Reconnecting

How PcPad gets back to your PC, and how to keep the connection steady.

Automatic reconnect

With Auto-reconnect on (the default, in Settings under Bluetooth), PcPad connects to the last PC when you open it, and tries again if the connection drops: after 2, 5, 10 and 20 seconds. While it retries, Home shows Reconnecting… next to Bluetooth.

If the PC still doesn’t answer, Home says Can’t reach the PC, with Try again, and PcPad keeps trying every 30 seconds while it’s open. If the PC removed the phone from its Bluetooth devices, Home says so and offers Pair again.

When the connection drops, PcPad releases every key and button, so nothing stays pressed on the PC.

Wi-Fi reconnects on its own too: PcPad goes straight to the address where it last reached the PC, tries again when the phone’s Wi-Fi comes back, and keeps the link for a minute while you switch apps. PcPad for Windows announces itself again when the PC wakes up.

Keeping it steady

  • Battery: allow PcPad to run unrestricted (Battery in Settings, under Bluetooth). Otherwise Android may cut the connection when the phone sleeps.
  • Keep screen on while controlling, also in Settings.
  • Keep the PC awake. A sleeping PC drops Bluetooth.

Starting over

To pair again from scratch: on the phone, tap Forget next to the PC in Settings, under Bluetooth; on the PC, remove the phone under Bluetooth & devices. Then follow Getting started.
