Keyboard

Type on the PC with your phone's keyboard or PcPad's full PC layout.

Open Keyboard on Home. A small touchpad sits at the top, so you can point and type on one screen.

Two keyboards

  • Your phone’s keyboard (the default): type in the field and the text goes to the PC as you type. Autocorrect and swipe typing work as usual.
  • PcPad keys: a full PC layout with Esc, F1–F12, Del, Ctrl, Alt, Win and arrows. Pick it in Settings → Input.

The typing field

  • What you type is sent to the PC straight away; deleting in the field deletes on the PC.
  • Enter on the phone keyboard starts a new line (sent as Shift+Enter, so chat apps don’t send early).
  • The send button presses Enter on the PC and clears the field.
  • The paperclip attaches photos or documents; they go to the PC with Send files.
  • The Reload button brings the PC’s text back into the field. See Reload.

Text is typed as key presses on the PC’s keyboard layout: set Layout in Settings to match the PC (QWERTY, AZERTY, QWERTZ, Dvorak, Colemak or Russian).

Pasting

  • With PcPad for Windows connected, pasted text (and anything the layout can’t type, like emoji or accents) goes over Wi-Fi and appears on the PC at once. The PC’s clipboard is put back right after.
  • Over Bluetooth only, pasted text is typed key by key. Long text asks first, shows how far it got, and Stop ends it at any moment. Characters the PC’s layout can’t type are skipped, and PcPad tells you which.
  • Editing in the middle of the field changes only that part on the PC; the rest isn’t typed again.

Settings

For PcPad keys, in Settings → Keyboard: the Layout to match the PC (QWERTY, AZERTY, QWERTZ, Dvorak, Colemak, Russian), the Landscape size of PcPad keys, and Key haptics.
