Getting started
Pair your phone over Bluetooth to use it as a keyboard and touchpad. Then, if you like, add PcPad for Windows for files and the PC screen.
Pair over Bluetooth
- Open PcPad on the phone and tap Connect a PC. The phone becomes visible for a couple of minutes.
- On the PC, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Add device → Bluetooth and choose your phone.
- Check that both screens show the same code, then confirm on both.
Nothing is installed on the PC for this step. Windows sees the phone as a regular keyboard and mouse.
After that, PcPad reconnects on its own whenever you open it near the PC. If the PC is already paired, you can also tap Choose from nearby PCs and pick it.
Add Wi-Fi when you need it
Files, the PC screen and Reload need PcPad for Windows running on the PC, on the same Wi-Fi as the phone. Nothing to set up in advance: the first time you tap Send files, View PC screen or Reload (or Connect next to Wi-Fi on Home), PcPad shows what to do.
- Install PcPad for Windows. It starts in the tray.
- On the PC, open Pair a phone in PcPad. It shows a QR code.
- On the phone, tap Scan code and point the camera at it. The feature you tapped opens once Wi-Fi connects.
You do this once. Can’t scan? Tap Find on this Wi-Fi instead, pick your PC and check that a 6-digit code matches on both screens.
What each connection does
| Feature | Connection | Needs on the PC |
|---|---|---|
| Touchpad, keyboard | Bluetooth | Nothing |
| Send files | Wi-Fi | PcPad for Windows |
| View PC screen | Wi-Fi (plus Bluetooth to control it) | PcPad for Windows |
| Reload | Wi-Fi and Bluetooth | PcPad for Windows |
Home shows both connections with their own status. If Bluetooth can’t connect, a card under the PC says what happened and offers one fix; Wi-Fi problems are explained the same way when you tap a Wi-Fi feature. Either connection keeps working without the other.
